And with kids entering for free. . plus the wristband deal, it is a great and inexpensive venture.  From petting zoos and livestock shows to local food and live music, you can get a first-hand look at agriculture, so it is educational too.

PA Arts & Crafts Colonial Festival   September 3-6, 2010   Greensburg, West Moreland County

Erie Heritage Fesitval           September 11, 2010    Liberty Park, Erie, Erie County

Erie's Heritage Festival - known locally as "The Last Blast of Summer" – returns again as the Lake Erie Region's popular community enrichment event. Activities include a historic trolley ride of downtown Erie, a traveling African American history exhibit and a kids-as-curators history museum program. Re-enactors representing the Civil War and French and Indian War will be on hand to demonstrate canon fire and offer a living history exhibition.

The Farmers and Threshermens Jubilee in New Centerville, Sep. 8-12, sponsored by the New Centerville & Rural Volunteer Fire Company, features steam-powered machines, crafts, scarecrow contest, a parade, an "Outhouse Dash. This will be the 156th Annual Juniata County Fair!  156th!  It will kick off at 7:30 am on Saturday morning, and will be jam packed with activities for the rest of the week, from horse shows to skateboard shows to agricultural exhibits to circus and thrill shows, to talent shows, to Buffo the World's Strongest Clown.... Gate admission is $4.

Wow, there is A LOT going on during this festival!  A chili cook-off, a Native American Pow Wow, activities, rides, and performances for children (including magic shows!), the Harrisburg Youth "Street Soccer" tournament, canoe race, PSECU ArtFest, karate competition, fireworks on Sunday night, and much more!

 

La Festa Italiana      September 4-6, 2010, Noon        Scranton, Lackawanna County

Did someone say Pizza? All kids love pizza right?   La Festa Italiana is an end-of-summer tradition that annually attracts thousands of visitors. Hours are noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday September 4th and Sunday September 5th, and noon to 9 p.m. on Monday September 6th.  People come to enjoy the food, music and culture that characterize the Italian heritage. More than 60 vendors will offer a wide variety of foods and displays.  The finest Italian cuisine is cooked and served daily, presenting festival goers with the dilemma of which tempting dish to try next.  I wish Teresa Guidice, the "Skinny Italian" was going to be there! I would be complete.

Labor Day Regatta   September 4-6, 2010   Lock Haven, Clinton County

A weekend of exciting outboard motorboat racing, amusement rides, food, arts & crafts, and fireworks. Apparently the boats get up to 90 miles an hour. Now that is something to see. The regatta midway featuring food, games, and rides sponsored by many local organizations and vendors will be open all three days and nights: 10AM Saturday and Monday and 11AM on Sunday.Note: The fireworks will be held on Sunday. (The fireworks will be set off on the Lock Haven side of the river near Tidlow Dam.)

Labor Day Weekend at Split Rock     September 3- 6, 2010                Lake Harmony, Carbon County
