Mifflinburg Buggy Museum April 1 - Oct. 30, 2012 Mifflinburg, Union County
The Mifflinburg Buggy Museum added two new activities for children! In the Visitor Center, children (of all ages) can "build a miniature buggy." For $5.00, you receive the body and you can select the parts to make a wagon with sides, a sleigh, or a surrey. You can upholster your seats and add a top. Adult supervision is needed. The Visitor Center also has a hands-on workbench with toys for younger children, coloring pages, and tools for older children. There is an introductory video and exhibit on buggy making. Visitors can also take a guided tour of the historic buildings: the Heiss family home, the original Coach Works (buggy factory) and the showroom. School age children are given a handout and during the tour they can look for 10 items within the buildings -- if they find all 10, they get to choose a small prize.
Open Thurs.-Saturdays, 10am-5pm, and Sundays 1-5 pm. Admission fees for 2011 are $10.00 for adults (includes the Visitor Center and guided tour of historic buildings); $5.00 for children (5 - 15), children under 5 and Museum members are free. They offer AAA, AARP, Access discouts. They also have a family ticket. Visitors can do just the Visitor Center for $3.00 (adults), $1.50 for children. Parking is free, restrooms available.
