Dam & Power Plant Tours August 23-24, 2014 Hawley, Wayne County
Not everyone has had a chance to walk across the Wallenpaupack Dam and a trip to the power plant is a rare treat, too. During this free tour, you will learn about the history surrounding the construction of PPL's renewable energy plant and discover how electricity is created with the power of water. Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission will be on site to answer questions about the boating and fishing on the lake. They'll also provide fly rod casting demonstrations.
Tours will run continuously during the times indicated and will be conducted rain or shine. Visitors will be greeted by a PPL escort and guided out onto the dam in small groups. For those who also wish to tour the power plant in Kimbles, bus transportation will be provided and leaves from the PPL Wallenpaupack Environmental Learning Center. For your safety, please wear close-toed shoes. Please note: this event is not handicap-accessible. Registration is not required. For more information, contact PPL at (570) 253-7001 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
