Roadside America                                                     Shartlesville, Berks County
Kids love tiny things. Teeny tiny play things. . like the miniatures that they have at Roadside America. My Aunt Karen told me about this one. My grandmother and grandfather would take the kids there to see the miniature village of life in america.
The exhibit fascinates not only because of its authentic, beautifully crafted miniatures, but because of the excitement of continual movement. Swift trains glide through tunnels and over bridges … a tiny fountain bubbles in the miniature Zoo … a mountain trolley hustles through the woodland … an old-time grist mill slowly grinds grain for flour.

A Day on the Train, Septa that is.  Chestnut Hill, Center City, Yardley, Doylestown
Well this is a creative one for sure. Thanks to Matt from Briarwood Camp in Furlong for suggesting this one.
Need something to do when the weather is not super great? Get on Septa and grab some lunch in another town. Matt takes his kids from Radnor to Center City for lunch then to Yardley to hang with the GPs (grandparents). It is a full day and the kids love the adventure of it. Sounds like Matt likes it too. Check out Septa. ..

Choo Choo Barn                                                                Strasburg, Lancaster County
My Aunt Karen told me about the Choo Choo Barn a couple of days ago. It is a perfect place for kids who love trains and well, good for a hot or rainy day for sure.
This place has a great history too. George Groff, back in 1945 bought a lionel train set for his son for christmas and set it up in his basement. Then each year they added on to it. . before you know it, the whole town is talking about George's trains and visiting to get a look for themselves. Long story short, he decided it was a good way to pay for college and started charging admission to see his trains. That was back in the 60s. Imagine how large it is now!
There are 22 running train displays and you can check out all the displays at your leisure in the 1700 foot warehouse. They even have a miniature zoo!
There is a Thomas the Tank Engine store too. . .
