The Society for Women Engineers of Pittsburgh is bringing this FREE event to Carnegie Mellon University for girls in grades 6-8. This is a day to experience the creativity and innovation of engineering and technology with fun hands-on activities.

This event is FREE, but registration is required by September 10, 2010.

The Great Insect Fair    October 2, 2010, 10 am - 4 pm       State College, Centre County

This is really an AWESOME, unique event for kids.  My boys always loved it!  Especially the "Insect Deli," where you can eat chocolate-covered crickets and mealworm roll-ups, yum!  The "Insect Zoo" is also always a big hit, featuring live insects on display, from the ever-popular hissing cockroach to the gentle walking stick.  There are also bee hives to observe, honey tasting, face painting, craft making, bug collections, putt putt golf, cockroach racing, the BugMobile Talking Car, and vendors & food booths selling refreshments of the non-insect variety.

 

Clowning Workshops         Sep. 4-5, 2010, 2:30-3:15             Pittsburgh, Allegheny County

Learn the hilarious and timeless techniques of clowning in a unique children's workshop with European-trained actor, singer, and professional clown, Gale McNeeley.  You'll explore European red-nosed clowning and take home your own red nose!

Schoolhouse Days                   September 5, 2010, 5 pm              Philipsburg, Centre County

 

Come to the one-room schoolhouse at Black Moshannon State Park and have fun playing games of the early 1900s.
