How it works: Rent a tube at 303 Central Ave.  Hop in a van to Greenhouse Park, where you will jump in the river and float down the Stonycreek for 2-3 hours.

 

Kids must be at least 5 years old.  Tube rental: $10.  Lifejacket rental: $5 (required for those 12 and under).  Season passes available!

A National Natural Landmark, Presque Isle is a favorite spot for migrating birds. Because of the many unique habitats, Presque Isle contains a greater number of the state's endangered, threatened and rare species than any other area of comparable size in Pennsylvania.

Beltzville State Park                                             Lehighton, Carbon County

This Park has it all for a perfect day trip.  Sandy beach, concession, convered picnic tables, bbq, playground, grassy area. . . and trees for shade! Take a big group or just the family. . it is a nice day trip.  Often crowded on weekends though.

Parker Dam State Park                                                  Pennfield, Clearfield County

We have been going to Parker Dam State Park for more than 30 years. It is a great state park with a sandy beach for swimming. There is a playgound, concession stand, shaded picnic tables and a grassy area.

The swimming area in Parker Lake features a beautiful sand beach and is open from late-May to mid-September, 8 a.m. to sunset.  The maximum water depth is five feet at the far buoy line.

They have everything you need. . sandy beach, lifeguards monitoring a roped off area of the lake, concession stand, bathrooms covered picnic tables, grassy area, first aid station, walking trails, Volleyball nets and boating area. The beach opens at 11 and closes at 7. Admission is 5 bucks a car. Also, I asked the lifeguard how crowded it gets. . she says there is always a nice crowd, but never super crowded.
